Monselice to Monte Ricco in Parco dei Colli Euganei
One of the most beautiful itinerary is the ascent of Monte Ricco offers spectacular views over the surrounding plain, the rooftops of Monselice, and heathlands of erica and juniper. It’s also an opportunity to learn a little about the geology of this natural park, whose hills are of volcanic origin.
As you climb the hillside (a fairly easy ascent of 300 m) you can admire the changing flora on the hillside.
This flora varies depending on the rock type and the exposure to sunlight: there are oak and chestnut woods in the shadier parts, and Mediterranean scrub, holm oak and strawberry trees on the sunnier slopes.
Along the way you’ll enjoy some spectacularly panoramic views of the surrounding hills and plain, the village nestled at the foot of the hill and the trachyte caves that eat into the hillsides.
